Teaching > Efforts to Improve Teaching

I value student feedback greatly. In my classes, I ask students to fill out an anonymous feedback form about halfway through class, as well as at the end of the class. I read these carefully and make adjustments to my teaching style and method. Many times these include small details that are easy to change, such as speaking slower (I tend to speak fast unless I consciously think about it). When I first started, I was asked to leave slides up longer so that there was sufficient time to copy them. I have since changed how I work and now post online all of the lecture slides in multiple formats online (I have done this through BlackBoard both at UCLA and now at Northern Virginia College). I have found this has been useful for students, as it frees them from trying to copy all the text on the board to thinking about the concept of what is being presented.
